Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Math and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin Madison.  Grateful for the financial aid she received as a first-generation student and experiencing firsthand the doors higher education opened for her instilled a passion for educational access, ultimately leading her to a career in financial aid.

Melissa began her career in financial aid as Assistant Financial Aid Manager at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth in 2017.  Using the advising skills she had previously gained as an ESL teacher in Southern Spain and more than five years’ experience as an undergraduate admissions counselor at Morgan State University and University of Baltimore, she assisted families navigate CTY’s financial aid process and access its educational opportunities for young advanced learners.  Currently as Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising she enjoys assisting undergraduate students access all the great opportunities Johns Hopkins university offers both as a student and long into the future.
